We had a wonderful night of Italian focused food with a lesson or two in their unique organic wines. Fast forward a year and we find ourselves down at Fratelli Paradiso, which is currently celebrating a decade of success in Potts Point, for yet another superb dining experience.
Fratelli Paradiso is an all-day, every-day tratt that's stood the test of time. Photo: Wolter Peeters Spaghetti with scampi ($32) is al dente but not ruthlessly so, with a fresh-tasting, bisque-like tomatoey sauce threaded with scampi meat and a whole, split scampi for added drama.
It might look more like a café on first glance, but Fratelli Paradiso is a beacon and reliquary of true Italian restaurant culture. The beacon sits on Challis Avenue in Potts Point, a boundlessly chi-chi neighbourhood known for its table-hopping restaurant culture, ground-zero for the myth of the kitchenless Sydney apartment, but not what you'd otherwise call a hotbed of good Italian eating.
12/09/2016 . 15 Years ago, 3 waiters (old photo, hence the happy faces) from Melbourne opened a modern classic Italian bistro. We began service at 7am and stopped at midnight, 7 days a week, kind of unheard of back then in Sydney.
Fratelli Paradiso is a Sydney-Italian culinary institution set in the heart of Potts Point. For 13 years brothers Enrico and Giovanni Paradiso, and their business partner Marco Ambrosino, have successfully run Fratello Paradiso as the go-to for fine and authentic Italian dining. The food is exquisite and the service passionately European.
Fratelli Paradiso is somewhat of an institution in Potts Points restaurant scene, boasting tempting Italian fare matched by a brilliant collection of wines. This teeming trattoria is the creation of the Paradiso brothers, and encompasses a restaurant and bakery.
